And heres why. he invented ambient music. he used tape loops. to make an ever shifting compositional process he invented using chance in musical compositions he completely invented a graphic score technique where musicians and non musicians can collaborate together and play a composition that is different everytime, yet still retains a familiarity. he completely invented the generative movie idea where the media is in a non fixed state. and used this process to make a film about himself and all the really good stuff he invented he produced and shaped the sound of the masterful rock band U2, which went on to sell millions of vinyl records. similarly he made coldplay into a really really great stadium band., and sold a  lot of music which is streamed on the Internet , literally millions of times, helping to cover the costs of keeping the servers online.
